ReQuest Hits Trifecta for Media Servers: YouTube, Hulu, Netflix

This is the tough part of developing your own operating system–months after Media Center OEMs have had Netflix integration, now ReQuest is able to offer it to their customers, along with Hulu and Youtube. Some nice additions, but I’m surprised their Hulu comment does not also hold true for Netflix–the quality is decent, but in a dedicated 100" home theater those Netflix streaming movies have to look terrible compared to a blu-ray.

For example, ReQuest enables very quick fast forwarding and reverse. ReQuest’s implementation of Netflix is similar to Roku’s in that users only have access to queues they set up via the computer. From the ICM, you cannot browse through Netflix’s entire library and watch movies on the fly – something you can do with the excellent Netflix plug-in for Windows Media Center.
