In what has got to be the most requested feature for the super popular HD200 Extender device from the folks at SageTV, they have announced that they have a new beta firmware which will include support for USB wireless adapters. The speed they’re getting is pretty impressive and should not have any problems keeping up with HD content.

There is currently one adapter which we have heavily tested and will officially be supporting. It’s an 802.11 a/b/g/n network adapter from ‘Encore Electronics’. It is model #ENUWI-N. This device is available from many stores online; and currently NewEgg has it for only $16.99 G and N networks are the only ones officially supported; but it should function on A or B networks as well; although the bandwidth of A & B networks is generally too low for video streaming. In our testing we’ve been able to get 20-30 Mbps on G networks. On N networks we’re able to achieve 40-50Mbps. These numbers will of course vary depending upon a wide variety of conditions including device placement, access point location and signal interference.
