Comcast offers HBO, Cinemax on the Web and on-demand

Let’s see how Hulu answers this one! It will be interesting to see the release cycle of episodes, considering that I’m sure TV DVD sets are a large revenue maker for these companies. Maybe they are hoping if they are offered sooner online for subscribers, they will up their viewers? Either way, it’s pretty cool.

HBO and Cinemax content is making its way onto the Internet, but only for people who already subscribe to HBO and Cinemax through their cable providers. The offering is part of Comcast’s On Demand Online trial, initially making 750 hours of programming available to subscribers who want to catch a show online and on-demand. Everyone else, however, will be left out in the cold until they subscribe to cable.
