January 19th Blu-ray Releases

Not a lot of releases again this week, but there are a couple nice gems. Nice to see Boogie Nights out on blu-ray, and fans of Weeds will be pleased to see Season 5 released as well. I enjoyed the Che film, but it’s pretty long, so be prepared. Whiteout was decent, if you’re looking for a thriller to match the cold weather outside. I’m a Michael C. Hall fan, but even I can’t justify owning Gamer…maybe worth a rent if you’re feeling for some large explosions I suppose.

MissingRemote’s Pick of the Week

 

I wasn’t sure what to expect with this film, coming from the British comedian Richard Gervais, whom I was honestly not a huge fan of the original Office (but love the US version). But I was very pleasantly surprised with this. Jennifer Garner is her usual adorable self, and while I felt the movie stalled out a few times throughout, the vast amount of laughs I shared made them worth while. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a good laugh, and it’s a pretty unique idea for a movie, which is always refreshing–the plot is that the world does not know what lying is, that is until Gervais’ character discovers it and uses it for his advantage….of course, until chaos ensues.
