Blu-ray Releases – August 16, 2011

A lot of reissues this week, with Demolition Man seriously at the top of my list (let the flogging commence). Dexter Season 5 is out getting you even more anxious for the next season around the corner, and then a lot of grim suspense or horror movies. I had high hopes for Priest, a futuristic take on vampires…and it severely disappointed.

MissingRemote’s Pick of the Week

Not really too difficult a pick here, as this is a special special super special version that includes some fun extras. This movie really has been one of the biggest cult classiscs out there, featuring Jeff Bridges and John Goodman and even Steve Buscemi and a wealth of others, in an incredibly entertaining and somewhat out there film. If you’ve never had a white russian (drink) you will want one after watching this.

    Good pick, now please explain

    Good pick, now please explain how I use the 3 shells…

    I’m interested in seeing Muppets Takes Manhattan; always fun to see old childhood films in HD.  Labyrinth and The Dark Crystal had lots of details that were missing that I hadn’t seen since the big screen; it’ll be interesting to see what I’ve missed out on with this Muppet movie.

    Flogging?  For Demolition

    Flogging?  For Demolition Man?  Pfft!  One of my all-time favorite movies.  I’ve watched that movie so many time, yet I still love watching it and I still find the comedy hilarious.

    A female friend of ours and I use the “no-touch-high-five” damn near every time we see each other.
