Blu-ray Releases – July 26, 2011

This was a tough week to pick, and not because of a lack of options. National Lampoon’s Animal House is arguably one of the best college-type comedies of all time, and John Belushi is absolutely hilarious in it. Then if you wanted to pick a fast new action film, Source Code looked like a decent offering as well. Donnie Darko of course is a classic (although avoid S.Darko like the plague) trippy film.

MissingRemote’s Pick of the Week

For my pick however I had to go with one of my all time favorite comedies starring Dan Akroyd and John Belushi. Based off of the Saturday Night Live comedy sketch stretched into a feature film, the two brothers are musicians and their mission is the play a concert to raise enough money to save their old orphanage–what a noble cause! Of course all sorts of things go wrong and I believe this movie has the largest demolition in a car chase ever. It’s hilarious, non-stop and there’s also great music (assuming you like the blues) throughout. Cab Calloway is awesome btw.

Note:  Warner Brothers, Universal and Fox titles which  have the 30-day Netflix/Redbox rental window imposed on them are noted with **  next to the title.
