TiVo Premier Elite Now Available

Just announced on the TiVo Blog, the new quad tuner TiVo Premier Elite is now available for order. The new TiVo packs in 4 tuners, a 2 terabyte hard drive, and is THX certified. The Permier Elite is based off of the TiVo series 4 architecture supporting cable card tuning. The Elite also supports 80.11N wireless, USB and eSATA for external storage capabilities. The new TiVo supports all the usual online streaming servers, Netflix, Hulu, Amazon On Demand, ect..

The cost for the new TiVo? $499 plus services. Either $19.99 a month, or an additional $499 for life time membership. So for $1000 you get yourself a quad tuner 2TB of storage. The Ceton card isn’t looking too expensive any more now is it?

Four tuners. Two terabytes. Unlimited entertainment.

What has four-tuners, a two terabyte hard drive and is THX-Certified? It’s the TiVo® Premiere Elite! With four tuners users can enjoy recording four different shows while viewing a fifth recorded program. Plus with a two terabyte hard drive users can record up to 300 hours of HD! That’s two times more recording space than current retail offerings. Even with all of that, it still maintains TiVo’s gold-standard and easy to navigate user interface, integrating Web entertainment from Netflix, Pandora, Hulu Plus, Amazon Instant Video and YouTube, bringing Brilliant TV to life.

Nice unit.  I expect it will be solid like the other tivos I have had.  It is, however, hard to spend $500 for a piece of hardware that replaces a unit that you get free from your cable/satellite company AND still pay monthly fees.

I am happy with my Win7 MC.  No advertisements built in to navigation screens and auto-commercial skipping.
