Xtreamer Pro Review

XtreamerPro-specs-front1.jpg

Here’s another great review by our friend Damian, this time he covers the Xtreamer Pro (and somewhat the Xtreamer). It seems like a mixed bag, while I keep focusing on the fact that his original Xtreamer actually died after a year? Gulp. Still, some good progress has been made and hopefully more to come.

Seeing the main menu there is a lot of hope that we have finally gotten away from the dull stock UIs. Unfortunately, like most other media players, the UI reverts back to a Windows Explorer type experience.Accessing your media library brings up a list of available options to choose from. If you are using 2 internal hard drives you can access both drives simultaneously via the HDD option. However, on the down side each drive appears as a separate drive in the Pro, which means you will need to know what content is on each drive ahead of time (or of course you will just have to navigate between each drive until you find the content you are looking for).

  • Hey Mike,
    Yup, no clue what

    Hey Mike,

Yup, no clue what happened with the original Xtreamer, especially since it was used lightly (mostly for playing movies for the guys at work on slow days or when we work holidays). Went to update the FW and the device never turned back on 🙁

Let’s hope the Pro does better. I gave it to my sister, and I have a feeling if it dies she will expect me to buy her a new player to replace it!

Wow, now that is the ultimate test of faith!! (being willing to give a device to a non-tech family member knowing that you’ll have to provide free support if anything doesn’t work perfectly :-P)

Definitely keep us posted. I love their main UI, but man…talk about half-a** since it’s literally just the basic 1 front page huh?!
