Ceton InfiniTV 4 CableCARD Tuner No Longer Backordered
If you’ve been reluctant to purchase a Ceton InfiniTV 4 CableCARD tuner due to the order backlog, you can now whip out your credit card. In case you weren’t aware, the quad-tuner MOCUR device has been in such hot demand and suffered from parts shortages since official release that the typical order would endure a wait consisting of months.
One of the InfiniTV 4 vendors, CannonPC, has just posted today “We are caught up on back orders.” This is quite an amazing turnaround. As of only a few weeks ago, buying an InfiniTV 4 would have appeared to set you back about 3 months looking at past shipment data compiled by FrankAZ over at The Green Button.
Update: Another InfiniTV 4 vendor, Fluid Digital, is now also posting that the Ceton InfiniTV 4 is “In Stock.”

This makes it so much harder
This makes it so much harder to hold out for the SD HDHR Prime. I am surprised CETON hasn’t discussed making an external network tuner.

I agree, but the Prime should be cheaper..
I am having a hard time coming to the cost of the Ceton.. Looks very cool, but really $400.

That’s pretty much my situation. Network v.s. PCIE card doesn’t really matter to me but saving 150$ or so does since the HDHR is estimated to cost 250 out the gate.
The problem is HDHR prime could still be a year out with the vague nature of the updates. I know most of it is out of their hands with cablelabs but it doesn’t make it any easier to make a decision on whether to wait =p.

Looks like he tracked about 1000 orders. I wonder how many they actually sold and if they’ve come close to meeting their ROI estimates.

Perhaps once the dust settles and demand for the Ceton slacks off they’ll finally lower the price to be competitive with the SD HDHR Prime. Based on the HDHRP’s price, I’d say somewhere in the range of $300-350 would be a competitive price point.
