Math shouldn’t be a political thing…

Here I am again, posting about another TC video… Of all of his videos that I’ve mentioned, this is the one to watch all the way through (yeah, I know it’s long)… My recommendation is to do it at 1.75x, he talks slow :).

He completely nails the reasons why renewables are just better, and how it’s just a math problem – and not a complicated one… Somehow we’ve made this a political thing in the US, he talks about that at the end.

I usually post these in the spirit of “he’s not wrong, but that’s not how I would do it…”; not this time… He’s right about everything, well, OK, not everything – I don’t agree that electricity prices will go down (although I agree that they should go down). There are too many vested interests in controlling energy generation/distribution for that to happen. Prices where I live when up ~25% last year, and they are projected to follow that trajectory for the next few years. This is a huge reason why we put a massive PV + ESS install on the house we’re building. It’s a hedge against rising energy prices and it provides resiliency and independence from all the political nonsense that is making prices go up.
