IFA 2009: More info on Sony 3D

Here’s yet some more news of another major studio jumping right behind the 3D bandwagon. I still have to believe I’m not the only one who would rather watch a movie without any glasses, even if it means I don’t get the 3D effect. Time will tell, but I am surprised at the quick rate in which so many companies are getting on it.

Sony also mentions that they will expand the 3D platform to include 3D on the PlayStation 3, Sony VAIO laptops and finally on Sony’s Blu-Ray players and Blu-Ray releases. We can thus look forward to both movies and games in 3D from Sony next year, and older PS3 games will be updated with 3D capability as well. Unfortunately the Sony 3D technology requires 3D glasses; not the polarized glasses you know but instead high-definition shutter glasses, which alternates the image for the right and left eye. The same way it’s done with GeForce shutter glasses.
