Blu-Ray Releases – April 5, 2011

You’ve all been making me more and more nervous with my picks, so I hope to redeem myself this week. Taxi Driver is an all time classic with Robert Deniro as a crazy cabbie. Besides that, it pretty much came down to some new releases. Little Fockers was more entertaining than I had anticipated, but it lost out simply due to being a comedy over an action film, which shows off your home theater better.

MissingRemote’s Pick of the Week

Right off the bat Tron:Legacy had the advantage because A) I was a fan of the original, B) It has the Dude, and C) It’s an action sci-fi. Honestly though, I think my expectations were much too high for this, but as I look back at the watching I was pretty entertained and the special effects were pretty awesome. The plot is basically after the original Tron movie, where the son is taken back into the world of Tron and then of course there are bad guys and good guys, and battles and car/plane chases. And the soundtrack from Daft Punk is pretty darned awesome as well.

Note:  Warner Brothers, Universal and Fox titles which  have the 30-day Netflix/Redbox rental window imposed on them are noted with **  next to the title.

  • I won’t give you too much

I won’t give you too much flack this week. I would have liked to have seen AI get a mention though. Babe and Fiddler on the Roof will be quite popular.

  • George L. Schmauch Jr.

    I definitely agree with this

I definitely agree with this pick.  Tron: Legacy was very enjoyable.  The action and storyline was pretty solid and it link to the original just enough.  My wife did say she was very happy I had her watch the original first, however.  My sole complaint is that they released it in 3D.  I did watch it in 3D, but felt it was completely unnecessary for this particular film.

The funny thing about the soundtrack is that I barely remember it.  Then again, that’s what makes for a good soundtrack.  It should add to what’s on screen, not distract you from it.  I’m looking forward to watching it a second time.

I’m looking forward to the next sequel.

@Mike:  I fixed some of the links for ya.  😉

  • fixed the links as well, not
fixed the links as well, not exactly sure how i messed that up. I’m going to blame the wifi at MIA airport 🙂
