ArcSoft TotalMedia Theatre 6 “Metro” UI

When Microsoft disabled optical disc drives for media players, I was wondering where applications like TotalMedia Theatre would go – after all, if you’re not shipping a new product every so often it’s difficult to keep the fresh stream of revenue required to keep making bug fixes and adding support for new “protection” schemes. I wasn’t able to see this at CES, but shortly after I got back ArcSoft let me know that it was coming and today I finally got the time to have a look – you can too after the click.

ArcSoft TotalMedia Theatre 6 – “Metro”

Two things need to be made clear right off. First, while I’ve mentioned “Metro” a couple times this is not a real “Metro” app, it’s touch friendly (or looks that way, I don’t have a touch device handy) and you barely see the desktop, but it is a desktop app so it will play Blu-ray discs as well as files (both tested). Second, this is a beta so somethings could change, might not work properly, etc.; anyway enjoy the brief video of the new UI option for Windows 8 users.
