Blu-ray Releases – January 24, 2011

Some decent Blu-rays out this week, nothing earth shattering but we’ve seen worse weeks. I swear I enjoyed the original Saw, but they are really running out of steam and I’m happy to hear this is the last chapter of the series, which feels like they’ve had a new one every 9 months for the last 8 years. I haven’t seen Secretariat…but it’s about a horse…that races…and wins. And I refuse to watch Open Season 3–how this got to a trilogy just shows how parents with children are willing to pay and sit through anything to keep their kids entertained. Luckily, I don’t have kids 🙂

MissingRemote’s Pick of the Week

 Red

Red is apparently based off of a comic book series which I had never even heard of, but the plot is simple–a group of former CIA operatives who have since gotten old and entered retirement are brought back into action as they have been put under a hit list from their former employers. Bruce Willis leads the way and does his typical self with some humor and action, but I thought John Malkovich stole the film as he usually does, playing a super paranoid former operative. It’s actually a very entertaining film and there were plenty of laughs, and plenty of big explosions. Well worth a rental.

Note:  Warner Brothers, Universal and Fox titles which  have the 30-day Netflix/Redbox rental window imposed on them are noted with **  next to the title.

Yeah, because, if you did, you’d probably be looking to sell the site and I’m not looking to buy.

I really enjoyed the preview for RED, so I’m glad to hear that you liked the movie.  I’ll be looking forward to it on cable.
