Spartacus Update

While there is no good news for Andy Whitfield at the moment, there have been some developments on the recasting of his role. Personally, the single season I spent watching Spartcacus truly created a connection for me with the character and the man behind him. I wish Andy nothing but the best. Once again, I have to say that these men have some huge shoes to fill. They do have a similar look, but has anyone actually heard of any of these actors?

Spartacus producers are currently searching for an actor to replace Whitfield and, according to Deadline Hollywood, it is down to three finalists – Stephen Amell, Aiden Turner and Australian Liam McIntyre, who appeared in Pacific.

i think they shoulda gone a totally different way than this. you just can’t replace the guy who basically MADE the show. A bit disappointed, but my loyalty to the show will definitely keep me watching

I agree but looking forward to what they come up with anyways.

It worked on Roseane, didn’t it? Okay, probably not the best example. 😉 Let’s face it, though, most of us had never heard of Andy Whitfield, yet they cast the perfect guy for the role. I can only imagine that they’ll be able to do it again.

      • well, most recently i can
well, most recently i can think of was Iron Man when they replaced Terrance Howard (who i preferred), but that at least was a secondary character.

then again, they’ve done it well with Batman series…but again, those are movies….the attachment with TV shows is so much bigger since u watch the characters every week you get so connected to them.

There was also the Hulk reboot.

But, I see what you’re saying about the investment in TV. That very thing may be negated by the long hiatus between seasons, so it may actually wind up working in their favor.

Normally I don’t like to bring up old threads but just heard that Andy Whitfield passed away today. R.I.P.

    Very sad.

I just read the news an hour ago. So sad for someone so young and talented. Was really hoping he’d pull through.  🙁
