HP Gets It Right With CableCard
It appears we finally have a decently priced CableCard PC AND Dual Format HTPC. Getting to the CC, if you select the m8010y Media Center series, you can choose to add on a $400 cable card. When it is all said and done you get a decently equipped HTPC (with ugly case) for just under $1400.
Almost as big, they are offering a dual format Blu-ray and HDDVD drive for a $560. That is a great deal, although you will only be able to burn Blu-ray discs. So, for just under two thousand dollars you get a CC, dual format system, PVR, internet surfing and of course Media Center. It certainly sounds reasonable, although going to PCalchemy and New Egg and building one yourself also sounds good.
