This is really cool. CableCARDs for all usage scenarios are going to become a reality. Excellent news for SFF HTPCs.

  • I see this as being very

I see this as being very attractive to mini-ATX HTPC builders that have limited PCI-E slots available.  Personally, I’ve always been more in favor of USB tuners than internal ones.  Let the load be handled by an external powered hub rather than taxing your PSU, not to mention keeping the extra heat outside of the case.

The real question is, when will it become available and how will Ceton handle the backlog of orders that will most likely result?  The InfiniTV4 is still backordered for at least 3-4 months.

OTOH, Ceton has nailed it with the InfiniTV4 and the backlog of orders is worth the wait.  I’ve had mine for almost five months now and it’s one of the best investments I’ve ever made.  I say, keep ’em coming!

  • I figured this was going to

I figured this was going to happen. Maybe this is the form factor a dual tuner model would take.

  • Does a USB version interest

Does a USB version interest me?   Hmmmm….  Let me think a moment….  Undecided      YES!

Hopefully it won’t be plagued by the same issues the HD-PVR has been on USB.

I don’t see why it would.  I’ve been using USB tuners for years with no issues other than crappy underpowered USB hubs that like to die unexpectedly.  I get great results from my four HP USB ATSC tuners.

  • What seems kind of

What seems kind of interesting is that Hauppauge has brought the HD-PVR internal and now Ceton is going external. Lots of ways to mix and match.
