Advertising During The Simpsons More Expensive on Hulu than TV

I don’t think this is going to surprise people in general, other than the fact that it’s occuring so soon. If true, hopefully this will dispell the rumors of Hulu eventually charging for their services. But at the same time, I have to wonder then why they were so adament about shutting down Boxee and the likes, if it solely means more revenue?

Television broadcast ads during The Simpsons cost $20-$40 per thousand viewers. On the web, the rate jumps to $60. Shows like The Simpsons and CSI are now commanding higher ad rates on Hulu and TV.com than on television. It’s a byproduct viewers being twice as likely to recall web ads than TV ads, according to Neilsen.
