Hulu Plus Launches Official, Now $7.99 month

Interesting news from Hulu. One has to believe that they simply took their $7.99 cue from Netflix–surely if people had the option of Netflix (Movies+TV) for $7.99 or Hulu Plus for $10, Netflix was going to dominate. That being said, I’m never excited to see yet another monthly fee subscription. Think they can both co-exist?

I am happy to announce that today we are launching the Hulu Plus subscription service out of preview. With this launch, we are proud to offer our users the only subscription service with the full current season of hit TV shows like Glee, Modern Family, The Office, House, 30 Rock, Grey’s Anatomy, and more, with minimal ad-load, across computers, TVs, mobile phones, and tablets.

  • Hulu Plus

I think that if I had no cable subscription paying for both Netflix and Hulu Plus would be a decent deal per month. But since I have a cable subscription the added fee per month is something I would not be interested in.

Netflix is nice it has a few things I like but honestly I think the selection of movies for streaming is lackluster. Most of them are older so the selection has left me and the wife with kind of a.. Meh feeling.

I haven’t tried Hulu Plus so I can’t comment on the interface but I don’t see this as something I would want to add to my HTPC with my current cable subscription. Only time will tell which company will win out here…

    • I don’t have cable, but

I don’t have cable, but there’s no way I’d get both this and Netflix. One is good enough, once I start paying for multiple services I start to think “hey it’d be easier just to get cable” in the long run. I think it was smart of Hulu to go with the matching price though, I can see some people gravitating towards them as opposed to Netflix due to the more current library of titles. I’ve got a good 150+ movies in my instant queue (and over 300 in the DVD queue) so I have absolutely no worries about running out of stuff to watch on Netflix.

Wow… that’s one heck of a signature.  Almost looks like spam.  😉  Sorry about that, everyone.  Obviously, we’re still doing some tweaking.  :-X

EDIT:  Now that the signatures are fixed, no one knows what I’m talking about.  😉

    • The last thing I heard was

The last thing I heard was that the service was not available in Windows Media Center or the XBOX 360.

Back in June Hulu was confirmed for the Xbox 360 in 2011. They even list it on their website under supported devices (with a “coming soon” notation under the picture).

EDIT: wtf is up with the quote? I’m not seeing anything but a gray box.

        • we are aware of the issue

we are aware of the issue with quoting, sorry! But i fixed your post jenny!

I knew it was coming for the 360 but not until sometime later. But I prefer not to have to jump between device every time. Netflix only allows for six activations and I don’t want to tie up two activations on one TV. I’d rather keep my old, loud, 360 Arcade version for gaming and let my HTPC handle the rest.
