The new WD TV Live Plus HD media player is here – and yes, it streams Netflix!

An updated WD TV is now available for purchase.  It addresses a lot of the requests current owners have been asking for and stays in the same relative price point.  So far it looks like current owners are out of luck in terms of a firmware update but might still happen.  I was a big fan of the older models so definitely worth checking out if you aren’t ready to commit to a full HTPC.

Makes me wonder why other HTPC software haven’t added full DVD menu navigation streaming yet…

You asked. We delivered. Our new WD TV Live Plus HD media player allows you to stream directly from Netflix to your HD big screen TV in full-HD 1080p. That means you can play, browse and add movies to your instant Queue right from your TV—no computer needed. If you still want more viewing options, stream personalized Internet content from YouTube™, Flicker®, Pandora ® and Live365! But, be careful… You can literally watch great shows 24/7, especially if you have the unlimited Netflix subscription. We hope you have a comfortable couch!
One of the player’s other features is Windows 7 compatibility. Control the streaming of video, music or photos to the player and home entertainment system from your Windows 7-based PC on your network–or stream movies from a PC, Mac or NAS using your My Book® World Edition™ or WD ShareSpace!
When you want to enjoy your personal DVD files, the new DVD navigation feature delivers an interactive menu with chapter listings, special features and subtitles. Finally, the player’s cool HD onscreen menu brings together all your available media in an easy-to-navigate interface. Ah, the power!
