AMD releases first energy-efficient quad-core processor

For those looking to minimize power consumption, as well as fan noise, AMD has released a slew of new 45W TDP processors. Included are the Athlon II X4 600e and the Athlon II X4 605e, the first 45W TDP quad-core processors from AMD.

These energy efficient processors are binned for
lower voltages and thus have a 45W TDP. Unfortunately you do sacrifice
clock speed in some cases as a result. There’s also a hefty price
premium, at the high end you lose clock speed and pay 44% more for a
45W TDP.
