The Mentalist has been one of our favorites since it first debuted.  I always thought that they needed to start addressing the Red John storyline a bit more prominantly but the finale for last season was one I wouldn’t have predicted.  I completely agree with you George that it would have been a satisfying ending for the series, and really makes me eager to see how they proceed with Season 4.

I noticed one other thing, but its more of an asthetic issue than function. The “Forum” link looks like its been put in “time out” sitting on the other side of the search bar.

On the old site, the latest forum posts on the top of the page indicated whether or not there were new posts to the topics. Is that planned to be added on the new site?

According to the review conclusion on SPCR, I wouldn’t go with the AMD low power quads.  I would look at the regular athlon x4s compared to the i5.  For video encoding the x4 640 seems to be the better choice as its slightly faster than the i5 650 and i5 661 (based on the benchmarks on anandtech found here http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/117?vs=188 (benchmarks are for the 635 which is at 2.9GHz, the 640 is slightly faster at 3.0GHz) and its $65 and $110 cheaper respectively at newegg.

The “E” processors total power consumption during our timed benchmarks was only 10% better than the faster 95W and 125W AMD quad cores, and still a ways off from Intel’s Core i5s. They are slightly more energy efficient when idle, but the difference is too small to make a real impact in the grand scheme of things. In addition, the price premium attached to these processors makes them rather poor values; equivalent or better performance can be found in the ~$100 Athlon II X4 635. From what we can gather, the only real selling point of these CPUs
is the lower operating temperature… but then again, most standard AMD processors undervolt fairly well.

LOL!  There’s where they went wrong then.  Americans don’t like intelligent, thought provoking shows.  They want their Jersey Shore*, dammit!

So sad, yet so true 🙁

in reply to: Opinions Please on new Client for SageTV #28800

If you are running the SageTV server on your WHS, I would recommened installing your bluray drive in the server as you can add the drive as an import path and then the disc than becomes availalbe to any of your SageTV clients (assuming AnyDVDHD is running).

If you are not using the client to run comskip or showanlayzer for commercial skipping, you could save some money by going with an Athlon X2 instead of the x4.  And to save costs even more, have you looked at the HD300 to see if it will meet your needs?  It handles bluray playback (unencrypted) and hd tv, is extremely easy to install/setup, and is silent.

If I wanted a new motheboard that has more PCIe slots, can I use my AMD A64 x2 4850e AM2 CPU in a newer AM3 motherboard?
Unfortunately no.  The backward compatability AMD provides allows AM3 CPUs to be used in AM2 motherboards, not AM2 CPUs in AM3 motherboards.

I would agree with you if it was available while the movie was still in theaters but since it is for a time frame between when it leaves the theater and is released on home video I just can’t see paying the same cost for a single viewing vs owning the media in just a few more weeks.
