Blu-ray Releases – June 14, 2011

Some good movies to choose from, Battle:Los Angeles NOT being one of them. My goodness that movie was awful, even if you like sci-fi it was just such a poorly made film I found myself begging for it to be over. Boondock Saints gets a new release, not exactly sure what’s new that wasn’t in the first Blu-ray but if you still haven’t seen it by now, here’s your chance–it’s a fantastic film! Then you get a couple good Keaunu Reaves movies (isn’t that an oxymoron? hah!) with Point Break and Johnny Mneumonic, both were pretty great movies for their time. I saw Kill The Irishman, and that’s actually based on a true story which makes it even more awesome–about an irish mob guy who gets targeted by the Italian mafia, and pretty much points the finger at them.

MissingRemote’s Pick of the Week

This isn’t necessarily what I consider the “best” movie of the bunch, but given that it’s brand new and didn’t get nearly as much attention as I thought it would I figured I would give it some love. The movie is about these two married guys who are given 1 week off of marriage by their wives, and stars Owen Wilson and Jason Sudekis from SNL. It’s a lot of fun and made me laugh throughout most of it…and it also made me squirm through a couple parts as well. Fair warning, if you did not like Old School, you probably won’t enjoy this one as the jokes are similar in style/taste.

Note:  Warner Brothers, Universal and Fox titles which  have the 30-day Netflix/Redbox rental window imposed on them are noted with **  next to the title.
