Comcast Wants To Charge Up To $49.95 To Stream Movies To Your Home

Engadget was pretty fired up about this article from the Consumerist, but I don't see it as being nearly as obscenely priced when you think about it. How much would it cost to take a family of 4 to a movie these days? $12 per ticket is $48. Plus popcorn, drinks, candy, and you're EASILY over $50. Consider you have food & drinks already at home, plus the cost you already invested in your home theater, and the price is pretty reasonable. What do you guys think?

Stephen Burke, Comcast's cable president and chief operating officer, told an audience at an industry conference this week that several studios were "very interested" in the idea of allowing cable providers to charge $29.95 to $49.95 to watch an opening-day movie at home. He said it would increase studio revenues rather than cannibalize them, if handled properly.
