Didn’t know media center had apps (kinda ignored anything media center related while I used SageTV). is there a central place to get them?
Is it wrong that i don’t understand 90% of what’s being said in this thread? Do I need to know it (I’m using a i3-530)…
How does one use or install the Haali Media Splitter?

Here’s my list
1. Sons of Anarchy
Really enjoyed season 1 and 2, but haven’t had a chance to watch season 3 yet (though the wife did and said it was even better). The drama and personal conflict are pretty interesting.
2. Parenthood
I liked Lauren Graham in Gilmore Girls, so I took a chance watching this, and like it. The conflict and interaction and pulling together of the families really drives it.
3. Two and a Half Men
what you said!
4. Castle
It’s Mal! It’s very funny, and has sucked the wife in too. Love looking for Firefly references!
5. Modern Family
Love the interaction with the different families and it’s got Al Bundy back! Need I say more? It’s made me laugh harder than I remember another show for a long time.
6. Fringe
I like it – it’s interesting and nice that they’ve got a overseeing arc but not sure how long the alternate universe thing can last… Hope it doesn’t go the way of the X-files…
7. Community
Only watched 2 episodes so far (first season is recorded …) but found it very funnty – like the Breakfast Club/etc. in college.
8. Smallville
I’ve watched it all so far (well finally catching up on last season), and it’s the final season. I hope he finally flys, or it’d be nice to have a tie in with a movie…
9. Supernatural
Still watching last season which was spose to wrap up the over all arch, so not sure what this season will be about. It’s a different take on heaven, hell, demons, etc.
10. Stargate Universe
My first experience with Stargate (besides the movie) and I’ve liked it enough to start watching SG1.
11. Sanctuary
Interesting enough to keep watching, and I agree that Amanda Tapping definitely holds the show together.
12. Human Target
Interesting and hides enough info that I keep watching to find out more about the background of Chance.
13. V
I loved the original and the books, so I took a chance. It’s even better!
14. The Glades
I liked Matt Passmore in the Australian show McLeod’s Daughters, so I started watching it, and it’s pretty good. I like his character and it’s not CSI which is good cause I can’t stand that show!So Boxee and XBMC are not just programs, they are OS’s also? So I could run one of them on the parts left over from my first HTPC – an AMD Althon mobile 2400+? Might have to look into it…
Ok – pressing one of the media keys woke it up. But a new problem: the LAN connection is disconnected when it wakesup and won’t reconnect. I can’t even open it’s properties w/o a reboot.
Thoughts?
The question I’ve got: should I buy playon premium? They just sent me a special offer…

Shut down, unplugged VGA cable, booted…. Fuzzy screen again…
On a whim I hot plugged the VGA cable in – screen fixes it self!
looked at settings – they are the same…
unplugged VGA – fuzzy screen, so plugged it in.
Went back to graphics properties and set it to one display – the HDMI one. Hit apply, everything still ok. Now unplugged VGA, still good!
Rebooted with only HDMI, and it’s good!
So very strange! I need a beer!

[/quote]Huh.. that’s different than the 32″ Westinghouse I had, which was 720P with a 1366×768 resolution. It loved 1366×768, but it was older and I was using DVI and driven by an ATI 4670. That same ATI 4670 is now driving a 46″ Samsung 1080P over HDMI so I didn’t even think of any issues…
The supported “signal compatibility” is listed as 480I, 480P, 720P, and 1080I
Maybe I should exchange this 32″ Vizio for a 37″ one – it’s 1080P – and then my brain won’t be so confused.
Ok – on a hunch, I plugged the HDMI cable in w/o rebooting, and switched the TV input to it (VGA cable still connected). I was presented with a viewable log-in screen, logged in, and it seems to work.
I’m going to shut down, unplug the vga, and see if it will boot with HDMI.
Weird thing – it’s still saying the 1080P is prefereed, and the tv reports 1080P, but I didn’t think that was an available option…
UPDATE: Think I figured it out – before rebooting, I switched the resolution to 1366×768 (with 60 Hz refresh) and the screen did the same thing!!! Luckly since I can’t hit the ok, they didn’t take and it reverted back to 1080P. Why would it do that if the specs say the resolution is 1366 x 768?
Ok, borrowed a VGA cable from work and hooked it to the TV and PC, disconnected the HDMI from the PC, and booted. Booted no problems, readable display. Graphics driver is listed as the one I installed: 8.15.10.2182
Resolution is 1366×768 (TV’s native resolution – I think)
Refresh Rate: 60 HzWhat do I try now?

Also, is it better to let windows update install the driver, or to download and run it directly from Intel’s website?
