The six tuner version is scheduled for 7/18 and the three tuner version for 7/25.

Of course we have no idea how many have been pre-ordered and how many have been put into production. I would guess that SD has standing orders from their regular distribution outlets for devices once the Newegg.com orders have been shipped.

I think that the Ceton price adjustment/rebate/discount probably cut into that pre-order total at Newegg.

Edit: and with the USB version announcement by Hauppauge, there will be more pressure to lower the SD Prime price.

Watch that area then and something is either scanning your system or some out login is disability the ceton adapter. You can check the binding (although that is an old issue and fixed in what you’re running) and make sure your normal network card is first. (network and sharing, adapter settings, then advanced and advanced again will show binding)

When you lose the tuner do any of the following apply:

          1. Card is missing from Network Media Devices
          2. In Network and Sharing, change adapters, the Ceton adapter is missing
          3. Just rebooting the system brings it back

Which of the above apply? Known problems are programs that do scans or automatic logins.

          johnw248

In the FWIW department. The Dell is a factory load of Win7 from last August (they replaced my XPS420 when it died), the HP was shipped with Vista HP with free update to Win7 which I did, the Compaq was a purchase (family pack) of Win7 updates and I used the installed XP Home as the base for it’s install. The Compaq Laptop is a recent purchase with factory install of Win7.

From what I’ve found, the HP update version still had a HKCurrent User key for Run ehTray.exe. The Dell didn’t have the key, the laptop didn’t have the key and I haven’t checked the Compaq update from XP Home.

The only other registry entries are the same for ehTray.exe.

            John

Edit: I just completed running Win7 Update Tuesday on all the Win7 boxes and after restart and running MC and Get Lateset Guide Listings, I have exactly the same results. No pop up on the Dell or the Compaq laptop, it works on the HP Desktop and Compaq desktop. All four machines now have the addition of Run string ehTray.exe with C:WindowsehomeehTray.exe

I must be missing something (a switch some other entry beside H Key Current User ….. Run

            johnw248

Aside from a blue screen of Serivce Not Available, open your Ceton Web Interface and click on the TA tab. If you have the upate the FW will list F.1402 instead of F.1202 and under number of channels it will have 4 instead of 2.

If you have it, the second TA may be disabled or check signal. In either case disconnect the USB from the second TA and then reset the USB connection on the remaining TA by unplugging/replugging the USB connection. Once reset the Ceton Interface will show 4 and tuners 1,2,3,4 (unless you’re a beta tester for the Ceton 6 then it will show 6 and tuners 1,2,3,4,5,6).

              johnw248

No remote control. Dell is 64 bit, HP is 64 bit old Compaq desktop is 32 bit and Compaq laptop is 64 bit. Once in a while I can get it to work on the Dell but have never seen it work on the Compaq laptop.

There are two registry entries for ehTray.exe (assuming this is part of th ehTray.exe operation) and those entries are the same on both the Dell and the HP.

I noticed that the hover doesn’t necessarily work on other people’s computers that I’ve set-up for cableCARD.

in reply to: Interesting, I have always #4506
                johnw248

Interesting, I have always let MC create the folder as a Recorded TV location so it has all the proper shares established–then you don’t have to do anything to have the other computers show up in Recorded TV Shared and you can open and copy shows (as long as they aren’t DRM’d) to the other computer.

                  Edit:

It looks like I might have solved the issue and it involves sharing & Home Group. I wish I knew exactly what I did to fix it, but I first removed the everyone share from the Recorded TV folder leaving just the owner. That took out the doubles on the HP but it also took out the contents on the Dell & the other Win7 boxes. Next I added Home Group to the Shares on the folder. No change. Next I put back the Everyone with read/write and still no change.

Then I clicked on the folder and added it to my libaries in Recorded TV, interestingly it  shows at the bottom who your shares are when you do this and it listed home group and the two extender accounts (which hadn’t shown up before) as well as John & Everyone. Then I closed and opened Media Center on the Dell and waited 10 minutes and then clicked on shared in Recorded TV and the titles on the new folder were there. AND so far Media Center on the HP hasn’t doubled the entries yet.

With luck this will survive a reboot and adding other shows to that folder–but time will tell.

Wish I understood more about shares and home groups and getting titles to show automatically in Media Center. Adding shares to movies is pretty straight forward and I’ve had to add mustic to Media Player to get it to show in Media Center.

                  johnw248

                    Hi

I tried to reply to both suggestions (Mike’s looked like it worked and then failed; Michael suggestion was the same as my registry). Whoever is in charge of the spam filter has my previous reply.

It appears that if I don’t record to that drive and remove it from watched folders in Media Center, I can store recordings there, they appear with a single instance in MC and they appear in the shared TV section of the Home Group computers.

Have no idea now what’s going on when I choose it as the recording location.

                    John

EDIT: Ok the recordings that I moved to the M drive didn’t show in shared Recorded TV on my Dell. I had to go back and select M as the source for recording on the HP, it doubled the recordings that had been moved there and they also then appeared singly on the Dell…….Somewhere there is an extra entry on the HP that’s causing those recordings to appear twice ….. but I don’t know where yet.

                    johnw248

Don’t understand why Nick thinks this violates a MAP (minmum advertised price) agreement. Amazon hasn’t listed the product, they sent out private emails offering the product and you had to start an order to see the price.

As I recall, manufacturer’s list prices were outlawed back in the late 1960 or early 1970s. Up to that time you paid the same price for a Bolex camera at your local camera store, department store or drug store. Same for Kodak Film and so on. The only discount was if you belonged to a membership store that broke the price with just their members. Then when the law changed there were stores like White Front and countless others that became discount big box stores.

So all SD has is an agreement on advertised prices, Amazon could offer coupons, discounts to people who purchased another product, etc.

The biggest question is how this things is going to work since they by-passed the beta testing.

                      johnw248

So far it seems that only those areas purchased by Frontier have started pairing cableCARDS with Host Devices. In most Verizon operated areas (but not all) they authorize just the card and you can move it between host devices (tv set/tivo/ATI DCT/Ceton InfiniTV4/SD HomeRun Prime).

$273.07 but it’s sold by an associate company not Amazon directly. However it’s on the main search page now.

I just scanned over the installation instructions again and I just realized that the product key for the tuner required during the configuration process is apparently generated when running the Digital Cable Advisor.  This is probably why they have you install the tuner card and cablecard prior to running it,  I think it took less than five minutes to run through it so I’ll just rerun it after I get my Ceton card.
                          [/quote]

You don’t need to re-run the DCA if you passed and allowed it to update your system. That last step removes the OEM Bios requirement and adds the PID into the registry so it will show up when you install the Ceton card. It may be white on white, but it’ll be there so you just click next.

The  4meg of RAM requirement is a strange requirement. My old Compaq failed on memory since it only has 2megs of RAM since it was originally a XP machine.  and it seems a bit of a waste of money to put more memory into an old and slow machine.
