I have an extra HDMI+IR over 2 Cat5 cables kit. It works really well. I’m running my living room TV on an Xbox 360 extender located in my laundry room. I bought another one for another Xbox I had to control the TV in my garage, but I never really used it so I sold the Xbox.

Let me know if you’re interested. It can do 1080p at 40m (~130ft)

I don’t know about registry hacks that will allow you to do this, but if you can get away with not buying coffee and making it at home for a week, you can buy the Recorded TV HD plugin. It will not only allow you to access your ripped TV shows, it will gather all the metadata and present it in with a variety of themes (including a WMC-looking one). If you ever find a way to pick up OTA or finally get cable TV, it will actually blend the tuner-recorded content and the ripped content. You can also created ‘favorites lists’ so that your wife can see only the shows that interest her. I’m very impressed with this plugin. Hats off to the developer (No.. I am not the developer.. just a fan)! 30-day free trial!

Great info guys! Thank you so much! I think I might be just geeky enough to play with the IP control. If not, I can always fall back onto an iPod Touch.

              Thanks again!

Thanks Aaron! That may be do-able. I’m actually only looking to be able to turn the AVR on and off (standby), and switch inputs on Zone 2. Maybe I don’t even need that. Tell me, how do you work with Zone 2? I have a set of speakers outside that I want exclusively connected to a bluetooth box (a simple RCA L and R). Could I just leave Zone 2 on all the time connected to that particular input so whenever I want to stream music outside, all I need to do is make sure the AVR is on? I hope that makes sense.

The Microsoft store is now out of stock on the Ceton tuner :-(. The Prime is still $170 though at Amazon!!
