I started watching it, but haven’t finished yet.  I’ve made it to the point where the young boy whacks him in the head thinking he’s a zombie.  My first thought when he woke up in the hospital was why didn’t any zombies get him in his room?

I like zombie movies, but as a TV show I can see it getting stagnant.  I am afraid of the same thing as you, Meester.Rip.  In zombie movies, the part that interests me most is the zombies after people and what they have to do to either fend them off or escape them.  On a TV show, you can’t have them running from zombies all the time, but at the same time I don’t want to just see people talking and not really doing anything.  I don’t care anything about setting up a story or going through any back-stories.  They almost lost me from the start when he and his deputy was in the car talking about women.

I was agreeing with autoboy’s comment on using the “AMD graphics built in”.  I just got lazy and didn’t quote his comment, LOL.

But, yes, using the Gigabyte board is a good way to go.

I agree.  If you are going with that motherboard, then why not just use the onboard video instead of adding the little bit of extra heat and power consumption you’ll have by using the 8400GS?

I thought DVD Fab always made me shut down AnyDVD before it would work.

DVD Fab Decrypter requires AnyDVD to close, but DVD Fab Passkey does not.  It’s two different programs.  DVD Fab Passkey is more like AnyDVD, I guess, but without a lot of the options that AnyDVD has.  It’s main job is to break the protection of the bluray, or however you want to word it.

Funny thing tonight…I bought How To Train Your Dragon and was going to rip it to the HTPC and then send it over to the server.  When I opened DVD Fab Passkey it said the version was old and had to download a new version.  And after I was giving them praise in my previous post.  Oh well, I had been using this version for quite a while so I guess it was bound to happen soon.

This program is free, by the way, for anyone who had never heard of it.

I just spent about an hour over there. Great find.

My Netflix guide takes a second or two to load on Media Center but after that everything fires up as quick as any other streaming site. I’d strongly suggest going wired.

But how long does it take for the movie to start playing in Media Center (or the PC in general)?  Mine has to go through the testing connection, which usually doesn’t take that long, and then it has to go through the buffering, which does take several minutes.  The PS3 doesn’t seem to do any buffering at the beginning because when I push play, it says “retrieving”, and it only takes a few seconds before I’m actually watching the movie.

I just started using Netflix on the PS3 in the bedroom since it no longer requires a disc.  I am impressed with how instantly it starts playing on the PS3…just a matter of seconds.  Compared to in Media Center where it takes a couple of minutes for me.  However, on the flip side, while trying to watch The Munsters this afternoon, the PS3 stream stopped several times and said “retrieving”.  Maybe it was because I’m using wireless; I don’t know.  I know that I’m not going to get an HD stream with a 768k connection, but it looks rather good.  Some shows look good that is.  The Munsters looked about what I’d expect watching it on an SD satellite channel.  But I tried watching Buffy the Vampire Slayer (the TV series) just as a test on the PS3 and it looked absolutely horrible.  It was so blocky I couldn’t tell what was going on.

Something else…while reading on the internet the other day I saw where someone said that streaming an SD feed on the PS3 from Netflix forced the output to 480i instead of scaling it to 1080p.  But I hit the “Info” button on my TV while watching The Munsters, and it displayed 1920 x 1080.  Has this been an updated feature or was that guy just wrong to begin with?

Does anyone else use DVD Fab Passkey?  When Avatar came out it was the only way I could get it to play correctly.  AnyDVD didn’t have an update for it yet at the time.  It also doesn’t require to be updated as often.  If I get a new bluray and put it in, AnyDVD will pop up with the message to download an update.  But if I open DVD Fab Passkey and let it do it’s thing, then AnyDVD will read the disc and allow it to be ripped.

OK, there are so many wrong opinions here, LOL.  I liked Alien vs. Predator, and I’ve never seen any of the other Alien movies or Predator movies.  Second, I agree with the Back to the Future choice.  I mean, you HAVE to pick that.  Once in a while the mood hits me, and I’ll watch BttF from the server.
