I have WHS and move all recordings to there.  This allows all of my Recorded TV to be available on all of my HTPCs.  Might this provide you with some of the functionality on your wishlist?

Granted, this doesn’t get around the copy protection flag issues.  I’ve been fortunate in that my cable provider hasn’t incorporated those flags thus far.

However, I would like the feature that you mentioned whereby I could see/manage the scheduled recordings from other PCs.  Put differently, the recording schedule should be centralized.

Not sure how to fix that…however, I have noticed that my recordings show up that way sometimes after they are automatically moved to the server and it kinda “fixes itself” eventually.   So I’m not sure if perhaps WMC reconciles file names with the descriptive info in “batches” or in intervals or what.

You should also be able to manually copy the channel XML files over to the other machines.

You are exactly right!  Even better, I am able to store them on the server and pull them in to the other machines.  So, to reverse my previous statement, this actually does do what I was hoping!

Thanks for pointing me in that direction.   I’ve already donated $10 for this app.  I’m gonna give ’em another $10 (or more) since it seems to work so well.

Thanks.  I took a look at Guide Tool and it appears to do some pretty neat things, so I will download it.  However it still doesn’t do exactly what I am looking for.  The $5 is not an issue.  I would pay multiples of that if there were a tool that actually allows you to move the settings easily from one HTPC to another.
