Thanks again for posting this “Plea for Help”
As you know, there is a lot of different HTPC software to choose from. Most have identical video and audio playback features, but network and hardware features vary. Its difficult to find out what is possible with each software without having tried it. I have gone from BeyondTv to Meedio to Media Portal (in order). Each has distinct advantages and disadvantages.
This wikipedia entry will serve a centralize location to compare features. Alan is right, missing remote is the “best damn community around”.
