      I found the article (linked below) to be just as the topic title suggests. 

      While I am certainly all for progress and such it is really beginning to look more and more like AMD is going to sink further and further behind Intel in the CPU development race.

      In the near term, at least it appears, that according to the article that Intel’s soon to be released 45nm architecture will give the consumer; low power, cool running, very fast CPUs priced competitively with AMDs current “bread and butter” CPUs.  In other words when these CPUs are released the CPU market could effectively become a “one horse race” for the foreseeable future and as such could eventually lead to higher consumer prices down the road as the competition (AMD) fades to third-rate status.
