Does anyone have experience/knowledge of current raid cards? I’m slowly putting my parts list together for the server part of my HTPC and I want to use raid 5 for media storage in case of a HDD failure. This is meant to be a pretty serious server. Does anyone have any recommendations/watchouts?
I started looking at the [url=http://www.3ware.com/products/serial_ata2-9650.asp]3ware 9650SE[/url], but I’m concerned about mobo compatibility. It also uses multi-lane cables and I’m not sure they’ll work with something like the [url=http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16817995001]Athena Power BP-SATA3051B[/url], which I want for hot-swap capability.
I’m certainly open to suggestions, but I don’t want to go with onboard raid on the mobo, due to upgrading issues.
