    I like the concept of being able to swap out the boards. This way you can customize the AVR to the types of inputs most relevant to your system and upgrade in the future. The key will be to see how well they manage the upgrade boards. For this to take off they really need to follow through on the upgrades.

    I’m kind of waiting to see what will happen with the ethernet interface for video and audio that is supposed to be coming.

      I completely agree – it’s one of the things I really like about using a HTPC.  That said, you can buy and throw away a lot of mid-range AVR for $4k 🙂
