I’m going to build a basic HTPC, on a budget & I’m having trouble deciding what case to buy.  I want to keep the whole thing fairly quiet and to look ok in the lounge and I’m torn between a shuttle and a more standard size case (silverstone, ahanix, origen etc etc).  So far from what I’ve seen, the cheaper full-size cases come with standard ATX PSU’s, which I would assume makes them noisy – it’s not until you get into the more expensive cases that you get quieter PSU’s.  The shuttles are cheaper than the expensive full size cases, and from the website they seem to have an eye on noise with regulated fans to keep things quiet.  The shuttle cases look good, however they are obviously not as upgradeable in the future due to lack of expansion slots, propriatory motherboards etc.

Any comments or thoughts on my dilemma?  Are there any cheap and quiet full size cases?
