Ok first off let me just say I am soooo happy to have found this forum. I am in the U.S Air Force currently deployed in the Middle-East. However once I get back I want to build something I have always wanted with all the deployment money I’m getting now. I have pretty good knowledge of computers and how to build them, although I have not yet had the chance or money to do so. I think I could do it through enough trial and error though. The one thing I cannot seem to understand is how the tuner cards will work. I have Suddenlink Cable service with thier HD DVR cable box. My question is how can I get rid of that box and just hook it directly into my HTPC that I want to get? I have read about cable cards, but I have no idea where to put it. I want the same HD DVR quality, I just want it through my computer instead. I allready have about 3TB’s of storage space on external HDD’s but I’ll be getting several internal 1TB’s and backing them up to external drives. I don’t know much about RAID yet but that’s something I’ll be looking into for sure. I just want everything twice. I don’t need to read and write to 2 drives at once, just all new data needs to be written twice. Not sure which RAID that is off the top of my head though. I’ll have baterry backup UPS’s for possible power loss though, that’s a pretty big thing for me. I want a HTPC that is also going to be my gaming PC though. This thing is going to be running almost nonstop and have TONS and TONS of fans in it. My wishlist on newegg is about $2300.00 right now. Noise is not that much of an issue for me. I welcome any help or input of any kind that you guys/gals can provide me. Thanks
Brandon
