Yeah, there might be more copies available all right. Because maybe a lot of Netflix subscribers will either buy it or go rent it else where, thus creating less of a demand for it from Netflix.

“Hey, did you see (enter new popular release title here) yet?”

“No, I’m waiting a month until Netflix is able to send it to me.”
