I watched a couple regular DVDs over the weekend with the gf(chick flicks). I couldn’t help but notice that the quality of the picture isn’t as good as I remember with my old build which used XP and nvidia purevideo decoders.

Edges just seem more jaggy and pixelated when viewed using the cyberlink dvd decoder. I don’t know if its all in my head and ruined by one or two HD-DVD/Bluray discs(which I kinda doubt), or maybe I’ve got something setup incorrectly with the new build.

I’ve got an ATI 3850 now instead of the Nvidia 6600gt. I’m also in Vista instead of XP, and using Cyberlink decoders instead of purevideo. There’s a ton of variables here and on the surface, they all seem to be what they should. I find cyberlink’s settings rather simplistic and can’t help but feel like there’s something I should be tweaking under the hood that I can’t access there.
