Greetings all.
I am in the process of a major overhaul of my HTPC. My old setup consisted of an ASUS A8N-VM-CSM and AMD Athlon X2 connected via onboard-DVI-D (to HDMI) and optical SPDIF to my HDTV. My new setup consists of an ASUS P5K-VM and Intel E6750. Because the ASUS does not have onboard DVI, I purchased a Gigabyte GV-NX84G256H GeForce 8400GS 256MB for its DVI-I output. The problem I am having is that while using its HDMI input, the HDTV does not seem to like the feed from the onboard audio when using its HDMI (from DVI-I) input. Video is fine, but no audio. The onboard audio is functioning, as I connected to a pair of speakers and all was well. As a temporary stopgap, I am using the Gigabyte’s D-Sub output (audio is fine).
The video card has a TV-Out (component) that the installation instructions indicate connects to an HDTV (I have not tried this yet), but I would l would like to know why the old DVI-D/audio combo worked but the new DVI-I/audio combo does not.
Any ideas?
