Funny how you compare PowerDVD and TMT. I selected TMT a long time ago because integration with MCE seemed better at that time.

Maybe it’s time to give PowerDVD another try…

Well, there is more than 1 problem.

Sometimes, I have to download an TMT update or the bluray won’t play. Do stand alone bluray players have to be firmware updated that often? I don’t believe…

Sometimes, if I press pause, and then play, the audio is garbage and I have to reboot.

Sometimes, the audio works only in the menus, and not during the movie.

Sometimes, AnyDVD must be running or the bluray won’t play.

    I don’t think there is a TMT4…
I’m using TMT3, but it’s painfull with bluray. 1 on 4 disk I try won’t play correctly, most of the time is audio problems.

I hope one day I will have a reliable bluray player in my htpc. Yesterday, wife told me: “this is the last time I rent a bluray!!! I’ll stay with dvds”

I programmed the volume buttons on my mce remote to control the speakers instead of the pc volume level. Some mce remotes are learning remotes.

I use a pc speaker system that came with a remote, so i learned the volume buttons from this remote.

Are you using a hdmi connection?

If so, you will get a better image quality with the 5550, because you will be able to send the signal in YCbCr and change the RGB limits. That will correct the dark picture.

I’d go with a 5450 or 5550. picture is great when connected with hdmi.

GuideTool might be a way to go. I’ll give it a try, thanks.

Well I do agree with everything here. I tried so many things that cost me a lot of $$$. I’m a computer programmer, so i’m not scared about trying new things. But right now, it’s not stable enough for mainstream.

I couldn’t live without my htcp setup, but will never recommend anybody to get one.

in reply to: xbox 360: is 4GB enough? #28192

I changed my settings to 100Mbps Full duplex, switched my xbox to 1080i. but still have the lag.
Right now, i’m not sure if it’s a network problem, or just a rendering problem from my xbox at 1080i.
Maybe there is a way to test locally but copying the same video file on a usb drive?

    Thanks, I will try that.
My integrated NIC is an Intel. There drivers were installed by Microsoft, from Win7 CD or via Windows Update, not sure.

Maybe I should try to find drivers on intel website.

My htpc uses an onboard network card. It’s connected to my router, which is 100Mbps. (Dlink DIR-628). My xbox is connected to my router too.

Humm.. I changed my xbox config from 1080i to 720p, and now the lag is gone. Not really sure why…

in reply to: xbox 360: is 4GB enough? #28184

I just bought the 4GB console, and tried it. The extender seems to work great.

    One problem: Lag.
I do have some lagging when watching live tv (or recorded tv) thru the xbox. Not big lags, but small and often. Am I connected via the ethernet port.

I didn’t know I could add an external drive later. That’s great. I’ll get the 4GB.

I need the remote too. Does it work only with the xbox 360 Universal remote?

Well it’s kind of normal. The colorspace is different between PC mode and Consumer electronic devices.

RGB is computer mode. In that mode, the video card sends the image like if it’s connected to a computer monitor. When switching to YCbCr, the video card sends the image like if it’s connected to a TV, in the same way as a blu-ray player would do.

When selecting 720P, we assume you want YCbCr pixel format.
