Interesting post Alan. My 880 that I’m giving to my father as a Christmas gift in a week just came in the mail yesterday. Its a bit overkill for his setup, but the price was about what the 550 was selling at so I jumped. I personally use and love my URC MX-700. I haven’t had a chance to play with any Harmony remotes yet, and I’m sure they are much easier to setup than the URC software. Reading various posts and discussions that mention either or both brands the past few years has lead me to the presumption that URC is more easily customizable than the Harmony for complex setups, but the Harmony is easier to get setup quickly.

Maybe I’m wrong, and I suppose I’ll find out in a week or so when I try to get the 880 setup at my parents place. That being said, my parents setup is ridiculously simple compared to what I did to get the remote up and running with my home theater and HTPC in particular.
