Update.  I read around about this issue.  There were a couple of comments that caught my eye.

    1. There could be an HDMI incompatibility between MC and the TV
    1. The TV I am trying to connect to is not the same TV this system was running with before.
  • You can get the Display driver error message when using multiple displays.  My case has a 12″ built-in vga display.  The video card connection to this display is DVI–>VGA converter then vga cable to the built-in display.  The HDMI cable goes from the video card HDMI port to the TV.  This setup on the other TV was never a problem whether the video settings were set to clone or extend or to show only on one monitor.  In this case it did make a difference.  Once I set to only send output to the TV the problem seems to have disappeared.  All the channels I checked worked fine.
  • Wierd.  The Mitsubishi TV I had been using was never a problem.  The one I am connecting to now is a Sumsung. Never would have thought.

Thanks for the help.  If anything else crops up I will comeback to you.
