How online sports betting in the US has increased over the years

Many sports fans and supporters are betting these days, and the activity has gained a lot of popularity lately. In 2021, the betting industry doubled, and it was wagered for no less than $52.7 billion. The massive number has made the online sports betting industry highly valuable, and there are some reasons for this success.

Sports fans in the US

While online sports betting is not only for hard-core sports fans, they are more inclined to start betting. Anyone can bet, but you have a clear advantage if you know a lot about betting, the team you are wagering on, and the sport that is being played. One of the leagues that it is especially popular to bet on, is the NFL. The Super Bowl is the most betted-on sports event in the world, and it was estimated that Americans betted $8 billion on the match between the Bengals and the Rams. Prior to the event and the upcoming NFL season, many are looking up NFL picks against the spread to prepare for betting.

The legalization of gambling

Another reason why betting is becoming more popular is that more states are allowing gambling. In 2021, no less than 11 states passed legislation that allowed gambling, including online sports betting. Now there are a total of 33 states where you are allowed to gamble on sports results, and more states are predicted to pass the law in 2022. Among the states that might pass a sports betting law this year are California, Massachusetts, Kansas, and Maine.

Bigger budgets and better marketing

The increase in gambling has led to greater competition in the sports betting market. Betting sites like BetUS and others are focusing on being the best, and to attract more gamblers. This includes a bigger marketing budget, and we see sportsbooks and casinos that are becoming sponsors or partners with huge sporting events. Online sports betting sites are also offering bonus systems, much like what we are seeing in online casinos. In a competitive market like this, it is important to stay relevant and desirable to possible consumers. This can be done by offering welcome bonuses, thus making it a no-brainer to start betting on that particular site.

Online sports betting has undoubtedly experienced a boom in the last couple of years, and it is predicted to grow even further in the time to come.
