I’m ready to ditch my 780G motherboard.  The overheating is just too much.  My PC reboots quite often.  It is certainly load dependent–e.g. when recording an HD program and an SD program while watching an HD program.  Playing BD movies will cause reboots at times too.

I’ve tried 3 fans and two cases as well as countless iterations of cards in slots, fans, thermal paste, etc.  I give up.  And even more so, the WAF factor is so low, I might soon be forced to get a cable company DVR. Ugh.

Before that shoe drops, I’d like to give something else a try.

My pertinent parts of current system is as follows:
    Gigabyte GA-MA78GM-S2H (rev. 1  🙁 )
    Athlon 4850e
    Origen AE S16V

I’ve been reading up on the ups and downs of boards based on the DG45ID and NVIDIA GeForce 9400 chipsets.  I’m not sure that any manufacturer has a solid board available for use in an htpc.

Any suggestions?  I’m not married to AMD, and will readily switch to Intel if I think that’s best.
