Hello all,

My HTPC was working great, until I decided to install an additional Tuner Card.  Now my remote control will not function.  Boy, it’s really painful to drive Media Center with a mouse.

    Here are my system specs:

Windows Vista Home Ultimate, 32 bit

Intel Core 2 Duo 2.66GHz

ASUS P5N-EM HDMI w/ NVIDIA GeForce 7100  (link)

ASUS My Cinema PE9400 Combo TV Tuner Card

Micro ATX Case  (link)

D-Link PCI Wireless Adapter

2 GB of RAM    [/list:u]

Why did I get another Tuner Card?
The PE9400 claims to be a dual tuner card.  While in theory this is true, in practice, I’m getting different results.  Only one of the tuners seems to work for an over the air antenna.  From what I can tell, the other tuner needs to be plugged into cable.

So I can’t record two shows at the same time.

Which new Tuner Card did I get?
Given my system specs, I needed two factors:  PCI interface (I’ve already used my PCI-E x1 on the first tuner card) and Low Profile (ATX Case).

I went with another ASUS… PS3-110 (link)  It comes with a remote, I couldn’t find a solo card that met my parameters.  I just figured I won’t use it, right?

After installing it, and installing the driver, the good news is that I can record two shows simultaneously now.  The bad news is that my remote control doesn’t work any longer.

In my heart’s desire, I want to use the remote that comes with the PE9400… It’s much more ergonomic.  (photo) vs. ](photo)

    But sadly, neither remote functions.

What have I done to trouble shoot?
I uninstalled the driver for the 9400, and then reinstalled it.  Hoping that the latest driver will take precedence.  Unfortunately, this did not help.

I uninstalled the driver for the PS3-110, and voila!  My remote starts working again.  (But now I can’t use the 2nd tuner, doh!)  I re-installed the PS3-100 driver, and the remote stops working, again.

Sorry for the super long post… But has anyone else had issues with remote controls on computers with multiple tuner cards?

Thanks in advance for your help.

    Bryan
