About.com is always so mediocre and hardly what I’d call definitive. They sure get it wrong here when they say “1080p is not officially part of the FCC’s approved HDTV broadcast standards”. This is flat out wrong. 1080p up to 30 FPS is indeed part of the ATSC specification, it simply isn’t practical to use currently.
