Ssers at the MDL forums have managed to create an all-in-one package to reinstall Windows Media Center on current Windows 10 builds (including 10240 and 10532).
The project had been in the works for a while.
I was able to successfully install it on my recent Windows 10 PC with ease.

Install Windows Media Center on Windows 10

Note: Before we start, I should caution you are download files from an unofficial source. As such, you should heed with the utmost caution when installing as this constitutes a security concern. Although there are no known side effects make sure you have your PC backed up just in case.

      1. Download

Download and extract version 6 from here

      x64
      File: WindowsMediaCenter_6.3.9600.16384_x64_v6.7z
      MD5: bbf8a46038cad45abf61d9449d32b99e
      SHA1: 16181ee4cc24e84b557345d1d1c2a44ef34ddff7

      Mega
      files.fm
      MediaFire

      NOTE:
When you have the zip file downloaded to your PC,
Make sure to right click the zip file and select properties.
On the Gerneral tab select lower right the Unblock box.
This is required to authorise the files on your PC as the media center
files are from another PC and Windows will nag you every time you launnch Media Center as the files are unsigned.

      2. Run

Right-click on _TestRights.cmd and click Run as administrator

      3. Reboot your PC

      4. Run 2

Right-click on Installer.cm and click Run as administrator

      5. Exit

After the installer runs, click any key to exit

Now, doing a simple search for Media Center reveals the app installed on your PC. You can then pin it to your Start menu or taskbar for quick access. Due to our configuration we have not confirmed how well it runs with a TV signal setup, so your mileage may vary. Otherwise, despite looking like a throwback to Vista, the app runs just fine on our new 2015 Windows 10 machine.

Now this is not a perfect solution as PlayReady is not yet implemented.
You can read more on this project here

I run Windows 7 Ultimate on a 1U server in the basement.
Windows Media Center on my Windows 10 pro PC can access the recorded TV shows for m the server and play them back just fine.

I will keep updating this thread with the most recent info when it’s available.
Currently I have a fresh windows 10 64 bit install with Windows Media Center running.
Media Center can view LIVE TV content via my HDHomerun Prime and record to drives.

THey are up to v12 now,  AND they were able to get video playing from WMC over RDP (possable PC extender ?).

You need to do a little reading over at

              Blocked

It was problematic because it was not possible to install the updates from WU.

Later a better method fas made available and needed just a single registry entry and few commands to install the unpatched MCE packages.

In vista and later the matter looks more complicated.

Maybe using the old tool switch one can convert a server machine to desktop and use the desktop package as they are and then convert back the OS to server. Then the so-called kernel protection should be taken into account…

I suppose things will improve with Windows 10
