This is more just a random thought of mine. I have my HTPC in my living room, which is almost facing my front door. And i have a few cheap webcams. So totally random but…

is there any software out there where i can use my webcam with my always-on HTPC to be a security camera? Where it can monitor motion and record or something?

There’s plenty of security software out there (some are even free), but if you’re looking for actual integration with WMC, I’m not sure about that aspect.  I know a few people did this with SageTV by adding a channel to their EPG with a live feed from their cameras.  Again, no clue if that’s even possible with WMC.

nope, don’t need any WMC integration. I RDP into my server, so would just want to be able to check it if necessary, strictly as a precaution if anything were to ever happen. what are some of the free ones???

Vitamin D video.  Hands down what you want.  1 cam is free, two cams price is $50 for software.

            works ggreatt
