Logitech Remote Queston

Can a keyboard button like F12 be assigned to a macro. F12 is my workaround for the ATI handshaking issue. F12 runs the HDMION app to force the video card to send the signal.

Also is there a way to remap buttons on the MCE remote to do the samething. Can it learn a command. I was wndering if it was possible to have the sleep button learn the F12 button from the MS wireless keyboard.

If you're using an app like EventGhost then you can assign whatever commands you like to a remote button.  EventGhost can emulate any keyboard commands as well as macros, IIRC.

The logitech remotes can learn commands and you can assign learned codes to any button.  Some, but not all, of the MCE remotes have a few buttons that can learn, namely TV Power, Volume UP and Volume Down.  Recently I was disappointed to find that the MCE Remote that came with my Avermedia M780 MCE kit was not a learning remote, and did not even have a button for TV power.

The problem is that you need something to teach the remotes the command that you want.  This is one reason that I like my IR keyboard over one of the RF or Bluetooth ones that are more popular these days.  With it I can teach any of my learning remotes any keystroke on a 104 (or whatever) keyboard.

Your other option would involve software emulation solutions as mentioned above.

EDIT:
P.S. I just read your other post and want to mention that I have had trouble trying to teach a remote keystroke combinations (i.e. ALT+X).  I'm not saying that it cannot be done, but I have not been able to do so.

I have the same problem with multiple keystoreks. My guess is that they aren't sent together but one right after another and the pc waits a second or know that when the two come in at a very  short time apart that they are to be combined.

Sounds like an Arcsoft program there.  :D  If so, that's the issue I was having and which caused me to return to PDVD.  During my attempt to fix the issue, I read multiple things saying that Arcsoft's programs don't have the best responses to keyboard shortcuts, particularly from EventGhost.

I don't know what Arcsoft would have to do with this unless your talking about using shortcuts when it is playing a movie to FFD\RWD....

WIN+1 seems to work well.

I attempted to get Total Media (theater or extreme... whichever one does playback) to be called by Sage using EventGhost.  Alt-X is the shortcut to close the program and I could not get it to reliably receive the command correctly.  In my research, I found other with similar complaints:  shortcuts weren't reliable.  So, I dumped it and went back to PDVD.

Alt+x was just an example that I pulled out of my, uh...hat.   :@:

LMAO!  I guess you can disregard all my comments then.  I'll go back to my corner and think about what I've done.  ;D
