Just a thought... why not keep the results secret until the end? It would build a little suspense and also ensure people are trying to pad the results... not that anyone would do that.
BTW, I was shocked at just how much stuff I watch off of just one channel. The other channels COMBINED didn't even hit that number.
P.S. What's Live TV?
I can't close the results.. Once you vote you see it.. Maybe one of the higher ups on the site have that option...
I have no idea. I think that should be an option for this poll.
While this isn't necessarily what this poll is about, do people even identify with networks anymore? Unless the programming is extremely niche, most are conduits for whatever content the folks running the network think will make the most money (viewership(ad revenue+content sales) - content cost).
Going to have to say USA (HD) ... Got to have my White Collar, NCIS reruns, Suits, etc. etc
Then again.. I have no idea really what channel these recordings are on - all I do is put in the keywords / favorites and let SageTV do its thing..
That would be Cable TV. I am just looking for the channels that everyone should technically have access too..
I have no clue. I have 6 tuners just for the sake of not caring what channel or time a show is on. I grew up watching certain channels on certain nights and networks using strong lead-ins to increase weak show's ratings, but that's all lost on me now.
It won't let me vote from the main page. I made my choice, and clicked vote, but it wants me to open a ZIP files named Win7-RTM-RDP.zip (or something like that).
From within the thread, I voted just fine, but back on the main page, it linked to a zip file.
I have no clue what's causing that as I can't duplicate it. Have you tried a different browser? Also, do you have anything being blocked on MR (NoScript, ABP, Cookies)?
EDIT: Actually, I just cancelled my vote and tried to re-vote from the front page, but it wouldn't take. I was able to vote after clicking on the story, though, just as you described. I'll let admin know.
I'd have to check my series listing in WMC and take stock of what channels are used the most. Offhand I'd have to say CBS and Fox for the broadcast networks. NBC is probably next followed by ABC and the CW. For cable I believe Fx gets top choice followed by USA, TNT, SyFy, and AMC. I get all of my HBO, Showtime, and Starz series via torrents.
+1 on Aaron's comments.
I'm with you guys on the sentiment; in fact, I needed to pull up my list of favorites and count everything up. But, I think the poll is meant to show which channel has the best programming, even if we don't associate the two in our own minds.
Coincidentally, I actually do know exactly what channel my favorite cable shows are on. I think this really goes to show the branding they do and the fact that I do actually make that connection. Off the top of my head:
USA: Psych
FX: Justified
Starz: Spartacus
HBO: Boardwalk Empire
Syfy: Warehouse 13, Eureka, Haven, Alphas, Sanctuary, Merlin
Additionally, I know that all the Stargates, The 4400, and Taken were all on Sci-Fi. I also thought Sci-Fi used to air Torchwood, but I could be mistaken. I checked to see if I forgot anything and noticed that I didn't recall that Game of Thrones was on HBO, but that's due to the fact that I only watched about half of the first season so far and it was several months ago. Simply put, it's not on my mind regularly because it's still a new show for me. Then again, I have yet to watch a single episode of Alphas, yet I recalled that it was on Syfy. I think it goes to show my "loyalty" to the network, even if they are trying to drive me away by cancelling the shows I like!
I counted up what I record, and interestingly enough, my percentages for each network mirror the poll results so far pretty closely.
Of the broadcast networks, CBS wins 2:1 to the others. Fox and NBC each have one show I watch, CBS has 2.
I disagree. This poll is showing the highest number of recorded programs for these particular channels (for people who know how many of each they watch on these channels). "Best programming" means something different to me than raw number of programs recorded.
Also, some food for thought regarding this particular poll: what does it mean if someone answers 3 for NBC and 2 for ABC, but the NBC programs are 30-minute sitcoms vs. 1-hour dramas on ABC? The higher NBC number is actually inferior to the ABC number if looking at total time of engagement.
I think I was just thinking of actual programs and not length of time.
I just thought it was interesting at my house how we seem to record more shows on CBS then any other channel.. So I was curious on what others record too.
NBC = 7 series' (one just deleted because it is canceled)
CBS = 6 series'
ABC = 4 series'
FOX = 1 series
CW and PBS both = 0
The rest of my recordings are non-broadcast channels.
See what I am really doing is helping everyone clean out their recordings and delete ones that are canceled...see this is a win-win for everyone...
Exactly. Thank you!
So you're saying leaving Firefly (new episodes, any channel) in my queue doesn't count towards Fox...
That would be a happy day...
