News - LIAN LI @ CES 2013

LIAN LIIn 2012, we reveiwed the thin mini-ITX PC-Q05 and mini-ITX PC-Q25, both interesting options for the HTPC enthusiast. At CES, we had the chance to catch up with LIAN LI and were rewarded with a look at a new prototype chassis designed to house Intel's NUC board. The black brushed aluminum chassis features passive cooling and a VESA mount. Compared to the stock Intel NUC chassis, LIAN LI's prototype has a higher-end look and feel. Considering the NUC has had some thermal issues in the past, we'll be very interested in performing a full review of the solution when it becomes available. Photos after the break...

News - Lian LI PC-Q16 Mini-ITX Case Reviews

Lian Li PC-Q16

Lian Li has built a reputation for quality and design with their aluminum cases over the years and the company has consistently been one of the biggest supporters of the Mini-ITX format. The Lian Li PC-Q16 is one of their cube-style Mini-ITX cases. To help trim a bit off the case's girth, the PC-Q16 forgoes an ODD slot of any sort, but still manages to leave room for a 3.5" HDD and three 2.5" HDDs. The Q16 is definitely intended to be a looker with its brushed alumimnum and clean front face, Some folks will probably be dissappointed that there is no option for adding a flash reader and the lack of internal Blu-Ray options, but there are USB 3.0 ports to help make up for it. The PC-Q16 is definitely a tighter squeeze internally than some of the other Mini-ITX cases grabbing headlines over the last few months, but it looks like there might be a fair trade of function for form in this particualr case.

Companies have been making computers and cases that will blend in with other home theatre items such as a reciever or DVD player. Lian Li is no exception and have put out quite a few great looking HTPC cases for MATX and ITX sized motherboards. They were kind enough to send the PC-Q16 case for us to review.

News - Lian Li PC-TU200 Mini-ITX Case Reviewed

Lian Li makes a variety of Mini-ITX cases. The PC-TU200 is geared toward LAN party gamers with its sturdy build and handle, but with a 5.25 inch optical drive bay and room for 4 hot-swappable hard drives, the PC-TU200 might find a place in the heart of anyone looking to build a petite but powerful media server. The front-mounted 140mm intake fan looks capable of keeping things cool without generating too much noise and the fan grille and riveted corners give the case a surprisingly appealing industrial look that reminds me of the SilverStone Sugo mini-ITX cases, but decidedly more working class. I know that the handle is a part of the point of this particular case, but it is too bad that there does not seem to be an option to remove it as the rest of the case manages to marry its industrial design to some very clean lines.

Lian Li PC-TU200

The exterior of the PC-TU200 is made up of beautiful black brushed aluminum. The front, top, and part of the sides are made out of one solid piece of aluminum. The corners are reinforced with hard plastic and everything is held together with large, prominent rivets, giving the case a rugged look. The black brushed aluminum really looks fantastic and, unlike other “rugged style” cases out there, keeps it classy and modest.

News - Lian Li PC-C60 HTPC Chassis Revealed

I love Lian Li cases--they're easy to use, aluminum so they're lightweight, and well built. What I do wish however is they would get a little more creative on their stylings. But hey, I guess I'm happy enough that they continue to produce HTPC-style cases!
